Youth Team Manager: Sam Collins

York City Football Club confirmed the appointment of Sam Collins as Youth Team Manager on July 3, 2018.

Collins, who was previously the Professional Development Coach at League One club Bradford City, filled the gap vacated by Steve Torpey who left in March to take up a coaching role with the Professional Footballers' Association.

Collins, 41, played nearly 600 senior games during a professional career that spanned nearly two decades.

A tough tackling centreback, he played for Huddersfield Town, Bury, Port Vale, Swindon Town (on loan), Hull City, and Hartlepool United. He also served as caretaker-manager at Hartlepool on three seperate occasions.

Collins takes charge of the day-to-day training of the Under-19s and works alongside Dan Wilson who was promoted to Head of Youth Development in summer 2018.

Head of Youth: Dan Wilson

Dan Wilson was appointed Head of Youth in summer 2018 after nearly two years working for the club.

Born in Middlesbrough, Dan had originally joined the club as an Under-9s coach but was promoted to Lead Foundation Phase Coach in July 2017.

Currently studying for a Masters Degree in Sports Coaching at Leeds Beckett University, Dan - aged 29 - has expertise in skills acquisition and child development.
