Striker Jon Parkin returned to York City in November 2016 after a lengthy career in the higher echelons of the Football League.

Now 36, Parkin proved that he is still a massive threat to opposition defenders last season by scoring 25 goals.

Born in Barnsley, Parkin started his career at his hometown club before moving to York, initially on loan, in 2002.

After two years at Bootham Crescent, he joined Macclesfield Town before progressing to Hull City, Stoke City, Preston North End, and Cardiff City.

He subsequently had loan spells with Doncaster Rovers, Huddersfield Town, and Scunthorpe United before joining Fleetwood Town, Forest Green Rovers, and Newport County.

He scored the 200th goal of his professional career last season.
