Wharton and Felix to miss Notts County game

26th July 2017

THEO Wharton and Kaine Felix are the latest additions to York City's injury list and have been ruled out of Saturday's home friendly against Notts County (kick-off 3pm).

Midfielder Wharton (pictured) was substituted after just 25 minutes against Oakham United on Tuesday night after suffering an ankle injury.

Winger Felix, meanwhile, limped off shortly before the end of the game with a groin problem.

"Theo went over on his ankle and Kaine seems like he has tweaked his groin a little bit," said manager Gary Mills. "I don’t think they are anything serious but we don’t want to start losing a few players at this stage."

Strikers Amari Morgan-Smith (knee), Louis Almond (knee), and Ryan Edmondson (groin) were all missing against Oakham and only Almond is in contention to return this weekend.

Morgan-Smith jarred his knee in training on Monday and, although the joint remains swollen, first team physio Mat Johnson is optimistic that the striker will be available for the opening league game of the season against AFC Telford United at home on Saturday August 5.

Edmondson has been ruled out for six weeks after suffering his injury against Scunthorpe United two weeks ago.

Winger Aidan Connolly, defender Matty Fry, and midfielder Clovis Kamdjo remain longer-term absentees.
