Wes: 'Belief is helping massively'

By Ian Appleyard | 26th February 2019

Winger Wes York says renewed belief could help City mount a late push for this season's promotion play-offs.

The Minstermen climbed to 12th in Vanarama National League North after a third consecutive victory at the weekend over Nuneaton Borough.

City need still to close a seven point gap on the top seven during the remaining 10 games of the season but York insists there is a 'right chance' if the players maintain their improvement in form.

"There's not much in the league points-wise so, if you string a few games together, you will be right up there," he said. "If we just keep on doing what we are doing, we will have a right chance."

Commenting on the mood in the dressing room after Saturday's win, York said: "It is the best it has been all season. We have just got a bit of belief about us now - individually and as a team - and it's helping us out massively.

"It was good, a professional job. It was a bit difficult to break them down but we had chances and I should have a hat-trick really," he said. "But we got the job done and that is the main thing."

City's next game is against 17th-placed Leamington on Saturday afternoon (kick-off 3pm). For details of ticket prices and travel visit: https://www.yorkcityfootballclub.co.uk/news/away-ticket-news

  • Chorley V Nuneaton Borough
