Striker Kempster happy to be back

By Ian Appleyard | 8th October 2018

Striker Alex Kempster was delighted to return to first team action as City progressed to the fourth qualifying round of the FA Cup courtesy of a 3-0 victory over St Ives Town at the weekend.

Kempster had not been involved since limping off with a leg injury against Alfreton Town on August 11 but played 33 minutes as a second-half substitute on Saturday.

"It's been frustrating but, obviously, I picked up a little injury that kept me out for four or five weeks," he said. "The last few weeks, I have been fit, doing well in training, and I have just been trying to get back in the side. It was good to get on (against St Ives) and, hopefully, prove what I can do.

"It's been a frustrating time sitting in the stands but the lads are getting the results on the pitch so I have just got to keep working hard and try and get back in the side," he added.
