Portuguese striker signs on loan
Striker Raul Correia has today joined York City on loan from Blackpool until the end of the season.
Correia, 24, made his Blackpool debut last night in the Checkatrade Trophy against Shrewsbury Town.
He had recently returned from a loan spell with Guiseley in the Vanarama National League.
Sporting director Dave Penney, who worked previously with Correia at Guiseley, said: "Raul is a big, strong, striker who will give the manager extra options in attack.
"He will train with us for the first time on Friday morning and will be in the squad for Saturday's home game against Bradford Park Avenue."
Born in Angola, Correia is a Portuguese national who moved to the UK aged nine.
He had played non-league football with Chorley and Radcliffe Borough before he joined Blackpool in January 2017 and moved to Guiseley on loan five months ago.
"I want to come here, get some game-time, get some goals, and get that promotion that we are after," said Correia.
"I am powerful, I have strength and speed, and I score goals - that's what I am about. Hopefully, this will be the experience I need and I will score the goals that I need to push myself up."
