Parslow ruled out for rest of season

22nd March 2019

Daniel Parslow has been advised not to play again this season after suffering concussion in the Vanarama National League North game against Hereford six weeks ago.

The City defender, who is ranked tenth in the club's all-time list of appearance-makers, visited a specialist in Birmingham after failing to make a complete recovery.

Speaking ahead of tomorrow's Vanarama National League North game against Boston United at Bootham Crescent (kick-off 3pm), Parslow said: "My season is done and I just need to concentrate on getting healthy. It's a tough one to swallow.

"After that bump six weeks ago, I am still showing signs of the concussion. I saw a specialist in Birmingham and I am just too much of a risk to get back to playing really.

"I am still getting really bad headaches and trouble with my vision," said the 33-year-old. "Hopefully, I can can concentrate on getting healthy and move forward."

Reflecting on the night he suffered his injury, Parslow said: "At first we thought I was OK but very quickly I deteriorated. Walking down the tunnel at halftime, I couldn't stand up properly, I was disorientated and felt really sick and had blurred vision.

"After two or three weeks, I was quite optimistic that I was on track and (I was) hoping to get fit and available for selection. But, as the time has gone on, and I was still suffering symptoms, we made this appointment with the specialist and did some more tests.

"He has just said the stresses and risk of contact is just way too risky with picking up another knock. I need to think about my health.

"It's been difficult to see signs of improvement - the main thing is, I am getting there - but it is obviously a lot slower than I had hoped for."

Everyone at the club wishes Daniel a full and speedy recovery.
