Paddy is Watson's first new signing

By Ian Appleyard | 23rd January 2019

Former Bootham Crescent favourite Paddy McLaughlin has today become Steve Watson's first signing as City manager.

McLaughlin, who played in the City side that won promotion to the Football League and the FA Trophy in 2012, has returned to the club on loan from Hartlepool United until the end of the season.

A former Newcastle United trainee, McLaughlin, now 28, made 88 appearances during his first spell with the Minstermen (2011-2013) and scored 17 goals.

After being released in summer 2013, the midfielder spent two years at Grimsby Town before joining National League club Gateshead.

He made a total of 145 appearances for Gateshead - and played under Steve Watson last season - before joining Hartlepool in the summer.
