Newton on competition for shirts

17th November 2018

Defender Sean Newton spoke to the media ahead of today's Vanarama National League North game at Altrincham (kick-off 3pm).

"Competition for places is healthy," he said. "You know now that if you don't turn up or don't play well you are out the door because there is someone waiting to take your place.

"We took the momentum from our performance against Swindon into Tuesday night and the new lads that have signed have made a big difference in and around the place.

"After three defeats in the league, it was a good point - especially with Chester having the chance to go top. We just need to take it into Saturday's game now".

Newton also revealed details of a 'karaoke-style challenge' that loan signings Joe Davis and Alex Bray accepted prior to the Swindon FA Cup tie!

"It gave the lads a chance to get know us when we stayed over," he said. "A few of them sang and it got them in with the lads straight away! Joe was decent, Alex was a bit nervous."
