Mills praises 'seven in eight days'

By Ian Appleyard | 13th September 2017

City manager Gary Mills has praised his players for their performances over the last eight days.

The Minstermen are in the National League North play-off zone after picking up seven points in three games against Spennymoor Town, Stockport County, and Gainsborough Trinity.

Although City were held to a 1-1 draw by Gainsborough on Tuesday night, Mills said: "It was a frustrating night. They set up how they set up and, for me, it's not a nice spectacle for football - but they have come to get a result and frustrated us and got the goal they would hope to get.

"I think my players have given everything," Mills added. "We lost two games (against FC United of Manchester and Chorley) and have responded with seven points from three games.  I have said 'well done', 'smile'. I think we have been excellent to get seven points in the three games. I have been pleased with my players.

"I will keep it simple and try not to over analyse it. If we stick the ball in the net with the unbelievable chances we have (against Gainsborough), we win the game tonight!"
