Maroon shirts on sale today

By Ian Appleyard | 8th April 2019

City's commemorative 'Y-Front' shirts will be back on sale in the Club Shop on Monday morning.

The initial supply of shirts - which will be worn by the players in the final competitive home game at Bootham Crescent next season - sold out within hours of going on sale last month.

The latest supply will be available from 11am on Monday April 7.

Produced in association with kit suppliers Under Armour and club sponsors Benenden Health, the maroon shirt features the iconic white 'Y-Front' design of the mid-Seventies along with the club's original coat of arms and current club crest.

Priced £29.99, it is available in all sizes (Child, S,M,L,XL,XXL).

City legend Graeme Crawford gave the shirts his seal of approval during last month's Bootham Crescent unveiling.

Former goalkeeper Crawford played in every game during City’s two-season stay in the second tier of English football (1974-76) when the original maroon 'Y-Front' shirts were worn.

"It was a lucky shirt back in the Seventies and, hopefully, it will be as lucky again," said Crawford. "The new version puts a modern take on an old design and I really like it."

City will also be launching a red Y-Front shirt this summer which will be worn in the club's other home fixtures. Fans voted for the red design in a special online poll last month.

City have played professional football at Bootham Crescent since 1932 and will be moving to the new Community Stadium at Monks Cross next season.
