Ladies finish season in Sunderland this weekend

By Olly Wood | 26th May 2022

The Minsterbelles are on the road for the final time this season as the North East Regional Women’s Football League Premier Division comes to its conclusion this Sunday.

City are looking to finish the season strongly after picking up 16 wins, two draws and just one loss throughout the campaign.

Last weekend York picked up an impressive 3-7 win over Wakefield AFC, after falling three down in the opening forty minutes a hattrick from Holly Finlday, a double from Shannon Durkin and goals from Sophie Tinson and Rebecca Fevers helped complete the comeback.

The last time City met Sunderland West End back in October York ran out 6-0 winners, a Tinson hattrick including a spectacular team goal as well as goals from Fevers and Jo Symington meant the Minsterbelles picked up their fourth win of the season.

This weekend’s hosts come into the game unbeaten in all competitions since March, West End have won two of their previous three, including a walkover win against Farsley last Sunday.
