Heslop ruled out for the season

By Ian Appleyard | 21st February 2019

Midfielder Simon Heslop is set to miss the rest of the season with a knee injury, according to manager Steve Watson.

York-born Heslop, 31, has made only two appearances since October and has now undergone a second operation.

Speaking to the official club website, Watson said: "Unfortunately for Simon, the first surgery he had was unsuccessful - so he has had another minor operation on his knee which will probably rule him out for the rest of the season.

"Obviously, I have had very little chance to see Simon although I know a lot about him from playing against him in the past. It's disappointing for him, his family, and the club because he is a very experienced and important player that I have been unable to use.

"Long term, if it's gone the way they think it has, he should have no problems getting back from it," Watson stressed.

"We will monitor it and see how it goes with the rehab. Hopefully, he might get in and around training by the end of the season."
