'Five Minute Flag' back in action!

11th April 2019

The club's 'five minute flag' will be returning to Bootham Crescent for the final home game of the season against AFC Telford United on April 27.

The original flag was flown in a corner of the ground and lowered to inform supporters when a game was entering the final five minutes of play.

Modern technology removed the need for the flag but City's imminent departure from Bootham Crescent has led to calls on social media for a sentimental return.

Director Richard Adams said: "I tried to locate the original flag and discovered that it was taken from the club. There is now very little chance of getting it returned to its rightful home.

"However, from archive film material, I have managed to get details of the flag and have a replica made (see photograph).

"I am now looking to fly the flag at our last home game of the season and looking to do the same at our last ever league game at Bootham Crescent which, of course, will be next season. This will result in the flag being lowered for one final time."

Adams is looking for volunteers who would like to be involved in the lowering of the flag. Those interested should email:
