Scott Boden signs for York City

By Dan Simmonite | 6th June 2022

We are delighted to announce the signing of experienced frontman Scott Boden upon his release from Boreham Wood.

Boden, who is John Askey’s first signing of the 2022/23 season, has featured for a host of clubs in the National League and Football League including Chesterfield, Macclesfield Town, Halifax Town, Newport County and Wrexham.

The Sheffield-born striker most recently featured for Boreham Wood last season where he helped the Wood gain a 9th placed finish in the fifth tier.

He links up again with former Manager John Askey, whom he worked under whilst at Macclesfield where he scored 22 goals in 46 games.

Upon joining the club, he said: “It ticked every single box for me. The Manager knows me inside out and I can’t wait to get going.

“He (The Manager) didn’t need to sell the club to me, I’ve been close to coming before and I’m local from Sheffield so I know the size of the club and hopefully what we can do here.

“You can tell around the place, the [good] atmosphere, everyone is friendly and everyone is positive and that can only hopefully steer us in one direction.

“I’d put myself down as a clever player in and around the box. I try and sniff things out and like any striker try and put pressure on myself to score goals more than anything.”

The move is subject to FA and National League approval.
