Olly Dyson signs two-year contract

By Dan Simmonite | 20th June 2022

We are delighted to announce that an agreement has been reached to extend Olly Dyson’s contract at York City.

The versatile playmaker, who also filled in at right back during last campaign, will go into his third season with the Minstermen after signing initially in 2020 from Huddersfield Town.

After coming back from injury in early 2022, Dyson played a pivotal role in the push for promotion under new Manager John Askey.

After signing the 22-year-old said: “I’m really excited. I’ve enjoyed my time here and another two years will be really good.

“I’ve had other offers, but I wanted to be here again and playing in the National League where there are some massive clubs – and we are definitely one of them.

“I want to get a few more goals this season. Obviously, I was playing right back so didn’t get forward [as much] – but if I can get a few more goals and assists then I will be very happy.”

Dyson joins Paddy McLaughlin and Maxim Kouogun in renewing their contracts - and as well as Scott Boden who was picked up from Boreham Wood.

John Askey’s new-look team will return to first team training on July 1st, when a number of new signings can be announced.

The deal is subject to FA and National League approval.
