John-Lewis looking to bag more goals

Lenell John-Lewis is off the mark with the Minstermen after scoring in a crucial victory over AFC Fylde in mid-week.
And the Grimsby Town loanee was pleased to grab the opener on just his second appearance for the club.
“It has been coming, I wasn’t worried, I’ve been getting chances and it was pleasing when it went in that’s for sure and a relief,” said John-Lewis.
“We are all staying quite grounded and making sure that hard work is first and foremost and we will just keep trying to kick on.”
City managed to sneak into a playoff place after their sixth straight win and are now enjoying the prospect of climbing even higher with a further three games in hand.
Based on recent form, John Askey will have a selection headache on his hands, with five first team strikers available at his disposal.
And John-Lewis is determined to keep up the team’s positive performances and keep his spot for the duration of his month loan spell.
He said: “I’m very pleased but the most important thing was the win, it was a tough game but getting a goal and a win was pleasing.
“I’ll put myself about and score goals but working hard is what I’m here to do.
“I want to score as many as I can and help the team win as many as I can, it’s as simple as that. I came to play games, help the side, and help the club and that’s what I’m going to try and do.”
Two years ago to the date John-Lewis turned out for Hereford against City in the final game at Bootham Crescent with an unrestricted crowd – scoring two goals on the hallowed turf.
But the imposing forward says there will be no friends when stepping onto the pitch against his former side this Saturday.
He added: “I know a few of the lads who are still there and the management team but at the end of the day it’s a game of football. I’m at York City and I am here to win.”
The team will travel down to Edgar Street this weekend for a 3pm kick-off.
Mitch Hancox will be unavailable due to a clause in the loan contract with parent club Hereford.
