Grimsby duo Burgess and Crookes sign on for new season

By Dan Simmonite | 30th June 2022

We are delighted to welcome the double signing of Scott Burgess and Adam Crookes upon their release from Grimsby Town.

The duo, who played their part in the Mariners’ National League playoff promotion, will join up with the first team squad tomorrow.

Burgess, aged 24, will be a familiar face for City fans after his impressive loan spell with the Minstermen in 2019. The central midfielder has since gone on to play regularly in the Football League with Port Vale and then Grimsby last year.

Left back Crookes, also 24, started his career at Nottingham Forest before loan spells at Guiseley, Lincoln City and Port Vale – where he eventually signed permanently and played 58 times in his three year stay at Vale Park.

Both players have worked with John Askey previously at Port Vale, where the Manager signed the duo in the summer of 2019.

The deals are subject to FA and National League approval.
