Ferguson no stranger to Shildon

By Ian Appleyard | 7th July 2018

David Ferguson is looking forward to a reunion with his former club Shildon AFC today when City visit Dean Street in a pre-season friendly (kick-off 12.30pm).

Fullback Ferguson spent four months with the Northern League Division One club after leaving Championship side Blackpool in summer 2016.

It may only have been a short-term move by the England 'C' international but he still has fond memories of his time with the Railwaymen.

"It will be good to go back there. I haven't been up there for a while now and it will be good to see some old faces," he said.

"When I left Blackpool, I went there and they were lovely. It's a family-orientated club - just like it is here - and I couldn't say a bad word about the place."

City supporters are invited to stay at the ground and watch England's televised World Cup qualifier against Sweden (kick-off 3pm).

Ferguson said: "It will be nice to see everyone after the game. They have got a clubhouse and a bar and they will welcome all York fans."
