Defender Allan returns to the club

By Ian Appleyard | 17th May 2018

Former York City defender Tom Allan has today re-signed for the club after leaving Vanarama National League North rivals Alfreton Town.

York-born Allan, 23, is a lifelong City supporter who has been working part-time as a coach in the club's Foundation for the last two years.

He progressed through City's youth system before making his debut for the club aged 18 in a League Two fixture against Bristol Rovers in December 2012.

Allan, who can operate at centreback or leftback, departed Bootham Crescent in May 2014 after making the last of eleven first team appearances in a League Two play-off semifinal against Fleetwood Town.

He spent a season playing for Gateshead in the Conference Premier before joining Alfreton three years ago. He has also played on loan for Hucknall Town, Harrogate Town, and Tadcaster Albion.

Last season, Allan returned to Bootham Crescent as an opposition player in a league game and scored Alfreton's equaliser in a 1-1 draw.

The deal is subject to approval by the Football Association and National League.
