Cummins on FC United game

25th March 2019

Assistant-manager Micky Cummins looks ahead to Tuesday night's re-arranged fixture against FC United of Manchester at Broadhurst Park (kick-off 7.45pm).

The Minstermen reduced the gap on the play-off zone to eight points at the weekend and now have two away games in the next five days (against FC United and AFC Guiseley)

"We have got two away games that we feel are very winnable," said Cummins. "Coming in, we knew that we had a group of good players, there were just a couple of little flaws in terms of their mental attitude .

"We tried to pick them up - and we feel that we did that to a degree - now we need the quality of the players to shine through.

"A lot of them are out of contract (this summer) and fighting for their own futures to put themselves in our plans for next year," he added.

"There is a hell of a lot to play for and, going into next season, we want to have the momentum from the back end of this year. It's been small steps but we have made progress."
