Connolly seeking to maintain form

By Ian Appleyard | 12th January 2018

Aidan Connolly is enjoying his football again and now aims to score more goals.

The Scottish midfielder returned to the City starting line-up ahead of the Christmas period and his performances helped secure maximum points in the last three games.

Connolly knows a fourth consecutive win - at home tomorrow against Bradford Park Avenue (kick-off 3pm) - will propel City back into the Vanarama National League North play-off zone.

"I am back playing, I have had no niggles or injuries, so it's all good and I am enjoying it," he said. "Obviously, when the new manager came in, I had to work hard to get in (the team). I was in for a while and then I came back out and I am back in again now.

"I need to keep working hard to keep my place. Obviously, I need to start scoring goals but I think that will come. I have had a lot of chances to score, I just I need to start taking them."

Looking ahead to tomorrow's game at Bootham Crescent, Connolly said: "The players we have got now have won the last three games so we are doing the business, we are doing what we are paid to do. We have just got to keep doing that.

"Every game is a big game but, obviously, they are above us in the play-offs now and if we win we go ahead of them. We have always had a good squad, we are just starting to get a few wins on the bounce now. Hopefully, on Saturday we can go win again and try and push for the play-offs."
