York City matches to be livestreamed this season

1st October 2020

York City Football Club is delighted to announce plans to stream matches during the 2020/2021 season.

To mark the start of the season and thank fans for their support during what has been a challenging year so far, the club’s first league home game against Chorley on Tuesday 6th October will be streamed free of charge as a ‘test stream’ on YouTube, thanks to sponsorship from GoStore, DWA Architects and JMP.

Thereafter, home league matches will be streamed via a Pay Per View platform. Full details including pricing will be released in due course.

Following a large number of requests to support to the club via donations, received as part of the recent Fan Survey, the club has also launched a virtual turnstile product on the club shop. This will give fans the opportunity to donate funds to the club, in lieu of fans being allowed to come into the ground in person.

Media Officer Dan Simmonite said: “We have been looking for a while now at how to increase our digital content and make sure that our fans have new ways to engage with the club remotely.

“With thanks to the National League and BT Sport, for permitting us to operate our own stream, the YCFC Live Stream will allow fans to watch the team in action and also provides vital funds for the club during this uncertain time.”

Commercial Manager Chris Pegg said: “Throughout the pandemic we have been very aware that, just like the club, our supporters may be going through tough times. We were overwhelmed by the number of fans who requested more ways to help the club that they love and therefore we have launched a virtual turnstile on the club shop, giving fans an option to help the club.”
