Willoughby signs on loan from AFC Fylde

By Dan Simmonite | 24th January 2020

We have completed the signing of Kurt Willoughby from AFC Fylde on a one month loan deal.

The 23-year-old striker, who earned a move up into the National League this summer, last season scored 19 goals for FC United of Manchester.

Earlier in his career he also scored 40 goals in just half a season for North West Counties side AFC Blackpool before moving to Clitheroe, where he continued his prolific goalscoring form with 26 goals.

The England ‘C’ international will be available for selection in tomorrow’s National League North fixture against Kettering Town.

After signing, Willoughby said: “I started this season well but then I got injured, had an operation, and came back from that and found myself in and out of the team [at AFC Fylde] not getting consistent football.

“I’ve always had my eye on York and they were interested obviously I can get my game time back, get playing and get scoring again.”

Willoughby continued, talking on his goalscoring ability: “That’s my sort of game really I like to think of myself as a goalscorer first and foremost – I like to be in the right place at the right time and score different types of goals so I’d like to carry that on.”

The deal is subject to FA and National League approval.
