Supporters raise four-figure sum for COVID-19 Appeal

By Dan Simmonite | 22nd September 2020

The club has donated a four-figure sum raised by supporters for the NHS Charities Urgent COVID-19 Appeal

Money was gifted through the sale of the unused Altrincham matchday programme which was added to the online store during the COVID-19 lockdown.

In March, we were scheduled to play the highly-anticipated league fixture but unfortunately, due to the Coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak, the game was postponed.

The unused hospitality food was donated to a local homeless shelter, and supporters were asked to make a minimum £2 donation on top of purchasing the dormant matchday programme, with a total of £1227.88 added on by the fans.

Ellie Orton, Chief Executive of NHS Charities Together, said: "A big thank you to York City Football Club for their amazing fundraising effort. Covid-19 is still such a big part of our lives affecting our physical and mental health. Donations will help NHS charities across the UK to support hospitals, ambulance services, community healthcare and social care to provide ongoing and long term care to ensure people make a full recovery from the virus."

We would like to thank fans for their support and generosity throughout the lockdown period.
