Reon Potts signs for York City

By Dan Simmonite | 12th September 2020

Steve Watson has added to his front line with the addition of 19-year-old forward Reon Potts.

The former Scunthorpe United man has been on trial with the Minstermen since the start of pre-season and has impressed the management enough to earn a contract for the new campaign.

"I'm buzzing to sign on, obviously it's been a long time out of football so I can't wait to get started in the league.

"I was at Shef United from under-eights to second-year scholar and then I did a pro last year at Scunthorpe which was good. I've been on a few loans in and around this level so I'm hoping to get some minutes under my belt this season and kick on.

"I'm quite aggressive, I'm good with my back to goal, I like to link it up and hopefully I'll notch in with a few goals this season."

Potts has had loan spells with the likes of Tamworth, Sheffield FC,and Lincoln United over the past few years and will add to the competition in the forward department.

Assistant-manager Micky Cummins said: "He's a young boy, nineteen-year-old, a good target man, he is still learning his trade but we believe that with a bit of work from ourselves he can be a backup to Cass (Jake Cassidy) as a main striker and main man down the middle.

"He's still learning, it's men's football. He's transitioned well in the first part of the trial - he just needs to kick on now."
