'Macca' on the way forward again

13th June 2018

New signing Macaulay Langstaff aims to move forward at York City and maintain his career progression.

Striker Langstaff, now 21, was playing part-time football for Billingham Synthonia in Northern League Division Two just 16 months ago.

He joined Gateshead in February 2017 and played five times in the National League last season but also spent time on loan with Blyth Spartans in Vanarama National League North.

"I was playing at a lower level before Gateshead took a chance on me," he said. "I loved it there but now it's time for a new challenge.

"I am delighted because this is obviously a massive football club. I have spoken to a few people and they have all said good things. I think we will do well and hopefully get promotion. That's where we belong really - a lot higher than this league."

Langstaff is the fourth player to leave Gateshead and join City this summer and believes that will only help him settle into his new surroundings.

"I think it's always hard going to a new football club when you don't know anyone - but I know a few of the lads here so it's going to make it a bit easier for me."
