Lewis Bulmer joins as Lead Sports Therapist

By Dan Simmonite | 15th September 2020

Lewis Bulmer has joined the York City backroom staff as Lead Sports Therapist.

Bulmer replaces Ian ‘Buster’ Gallagher who left last month to re-join Hartlepool United and will work directly with the first team and U19 academy side.

Recently working at York City Knights, Bulmer is also a graduate of York St. John University with a degree in Sports Therapy alongside holding Sports Massage qualifications. He has provided personal training in York for a number of years and has worked with rehabilitation clients including a Team GB Figure Skater.

Speaking on joining the club he said: “I saw the job opportunity come up for a full-time role and I wanted to move into a different sport so it’s a new challenge for me and it’s a bit different in terms of rugby to football.

“I’m really enjoying it, there’s a good atmosphere with the lads and I’m starting to get on with them more and more now. The coaches and gaffer are great."

The new recruit had been shadowing Head of Sports Medicine Will Short for the first few weeks and will now be ever-present on the bench next to Steve Watson and Micky Cummins on a matchday.

We are delighted to have Lewis join the team and look forward to a successful season on the pitch.
