Kieran Green departs after rejecting new deal

By Dan Simmonite | 11th August 2020

Kieran Green has left York City upon the expiration of his contract after rejecting a further improved deal with the club.

The 23-year-old was one of eight players offered new contracts at the end of last season, but has opted to turn down new terms to play at a higher level.

Assistant-manager Micky Cummins spoke on the departure: "Kieran is a player we wanted to make part of our plans this season and we had offered an improved contract to.

"We have been in negotiations for around two weeks, but the fact is he wants to play at a higher level so we have to respect that.

"We thank him for last season, but now move on and look forward to having a few more fresh faces through the door by the end of the week."

The club would like to thank Kieran for his services to the club and wish him all the best in his future career.
