Job opportunity: Commercial Manager

York City Football Club has a fantastic opportunity for a Commercial Manager/Head of Marketing and Events to help drive the continued growth of the business. 

This role will be based initially at Bootham Crescent before moving to the new Community Stadium at Monks Cross, York, this summer

The role will give you the opportunity to manage the full life cycle of sales including lead generation, relationship management, and networking with clients. 

It will also involve requirement gathering, negotiation, and closing and full account management with existing and new clients, together with implementing YCFC events and functions.

Main role and responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of the role is to lead on the development of all revenue streams for the football club and will be the driving force behind the commercial arm of the club.

This will include maximising sales in areas including perimeter boards, programme advertisements; match sponsorships match day hospitality and event organisation and implementation.  

The successful applicant will develop relationships and revenue streams with current commercial partners as well as secure new business. 

You will be responsible for the commercial activities of York City Football Club and be the primary contact person for all commercial activity connected with the Club. 

Main duties:

To generate income for York City Football Club through the sale of ground advertising, match day sponsorships and programme advertising.

To ensure that relationships with all commercial partners of York City are successfully maintained through regular networking.

To undertake commercial activities as directed by the Sporting Director/ General Manager with a view to increasing revenue streams.

To work closely with the media team to drive sales and traffic.

To prepare monthly written reports on commercial activities and projections.

Oversee and manage all match day hospitality and match day and non-match day events,

Person specification:   

The ability to work as part of a team with minimal supervision. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, ablility to deal with clients and colleagues at all levels  The ability to complete financial projection reports

Good literacy and numeracy skills

Knowledge of sales and marketing practices

Computer literate with excellent IT skills

Innovative ideas associated with income generation on behalf of the football club • Relevant qualifications / training / experience in a similar commercial role

Previous sales and marketing experience

Ideally you will hold a full UK driving license and have access to a vehicle

Hours/ salary/benefits:   

Hours: Full time plus match days and events / flexibility is essential

Competitive salary and performance bonus

Benefits: 28 days holiday including Bank Holidays
