Grantham Match Information

Grantham Town v York City
21st July 2017

York City's pre-season training camp begins tomorrow with the first of two friendly matches, the opener being a challenging match away at Grantham Town.

The match at the South Kesteven Sports Stadium kicks off at 3pm.

Grantham Town, founded all the way back in 1874, play in the Evostik Northern Premier League, Premier Division, which is one division below the National League North, and finished a creditable 8th last season. City manager Gary Mills was at the helm of The Gingerbreads from July 1996 until May 1998 as player-manager, during which time Grantham not only reached the quarter-finals of the FA Trophy for only the second time in their history, but won the Southern League Premier Division.

This will be the Minstermen's second visit to Grantham in recent years, having played a pre-season friendly on 28th July 2012 only a couple of months after City completed their famous Wembley Double. The result that day was 1-1, midfielder Patrick McLaughlin scoring York's goal in front of 232 supporters. Earlier in the match striker Jason Walker had had a penalty saved.

It is expected that the majority of the squad will get a run out at Grantham, with a second friendly arranged for Tuesday evening away at Oakham United.

Ticket prices for the match are as follows:

Adult - £10.00
Over 60s - £6.00
