Fan update ahead of the new season

28th June 2021

The Club would like to update supporters on upcoming events and happenings as the 2021/22 season approaches.

We have received a lot of fan feedback over the off-season, and we are looking to use this information to fine tune our customer service and fan experience going into the new season.

Coming out of the pandemic we are excited for the return of supporters and everyone at the club is working hard to make our first season at our new home as successful as possible.

Season tickets

Season tickets for 2021/22 went on sale on last Monday and the past week has already seen over 850 supporters pledge their support for the upcoming season – which is over 71% of the previous total.

Our Commercial team are currently speaking with partners and businesses around the Vangarde shopping park and York city centre for a rewards and benefits scheme exclusively for season ticket holders.

The Ticket Office and phone lines for sales are open Mon-Fri 10am-4pm. Phone direct on 01904 942232 or email

For clarity, seats in the South Stand are unallocated, but supporters will have to choose a specific seat on the ticketing website. However, season tickets and match tickets will not reflect this and will be printed as ‘unallocated’.

The booking fee, as imposed on the club from the matchday agreement with City of York Council, will be absorbed by the club for both season tickets and match tickets. This means supporters will pay the price as displayed without additional extras.

Stadium branding project

Supporters may have seen the various pieces of artwork and supporter photo montages installed at the front of the LNER Community Stadium and within the entrance area. This is the start of a wider project to add a York City FC identity to the stadium.

With this in mind, we can announce that work is now underway within the Fanzone and South Stand concourse – specifically the Pop Stand clock from Bootham Crescent being fixed above the concession kiosks and the lasting memorial for 2019/20 season ticket holders being placed within the South Stand concourse.

The club is also working with renowned photographer Tony Cole on a project within the South Stand concourse involving four wooden seats from Bootham Crescent which will be fitted within the space.

Club Director Richard Adams is leading the Keith Walwyn tribute project with stadium wall tiles fitted around the portrait piece which is located between the Fanzone and South Stand. Tiles will be fitted in batches and can still be purchased from the online store.

The first team squad will return for pre-season training on Thursday 1st July ahead of the first pre-season fixture away to Whitby Town the following weekend.

The pre-season friendlies against Newcastle United, Sunderland and Middlesbrough will have a maximum capacity of 2,000 with home fans only as per requirements from City of York Council and the Stadium Advisory Group in order to obtain a safety certificate for increased crowds at the LNER Community Stadium.

Open Training Session event

Steve Watson will be hosting an Open Training Session at the LNER Community Stadium on Sunday 11th July from 10:00am-1:00pm. This is an all-ticket FREE event with a capacity of 2,000.

2019/20 season ticket holders have been reserved places for this event and those who have renewed can book this event and choose their seat via the online ticketing system, over the phone or in-person at the Ticket Office. Those who have yet to renew can only book this event in-person at the Ticket Office or ring directly on 01904 942232.

2021/22 season ticket holders can book this event and choose their seat online, over the phone or in-person at the Ticket Office.

Due to Covid-19 restrictions there will be social distancing in place and supporters are encouraged to buy tickets in their social bubbles in line with government restrictions. Unfortunately, due to covid restrictions the event will not be initially how it was intended, with activities and Q&A sessions, but still a chance for supporters to have a first look at the new stadium before the pre-season friendlies take place.

The Club Shop and Ticket Office will be open 10am-2pm for supporters to change seats or purchase season tickets for the upcoming season.

Early access and reservations for both groups of season ticket holders will be held until the general sale goes live.

Matchday Programme

We are delighted to confirm that the printed matchday programmes will return for 2021/22 with a 40-page edition for each home game priced at £2.50 as well as a digital PDF version priced at £1.50.

A season-long programme subscription for the 21 home league games will be available for £50, which is for collection from the club shop only on matchdays.

PUMA Kit 2021/22

The official Puma away shirt was revealed on Friday alongside the home strip which is currently available to pre-order from the online store.

All three kits will be launched in mid-July and will be available from the online store and the Club Shop at the LNER Community Stadium. Shorts, socks and mini kits will be available to purchase.

The Club Shop at the LNER Community Stadium is currently being fitted out and is estimated to be finished mid-July.

The first team will turn out in the alternate strip in the pre-season game against Whitby Town – the alternate shirt will be revealed the week leading up to the game.

Bootham Crescent

The club has now vacated Bootham Crescent and moved into the new offices at the LNER Community Stadium. Items are still being moved from the old ground and the club will keep supporters updated when the premises are handed over to Persimmon Homes.

Club Director Ian McAndrew is currently leading a project to locate the urns and ashes buried under the pitch at Bootham Crescent – a sensitive project which will help with the relocation to the memorial garden.

Earlier in the month, volunteers gave up time to help with an archaeological dig at the ground – you can read more on the York Press website here.

Future projects include the naming of streets and buildings on the future development in which the club is working with Club Historian Paul Bowser and will including supporters in the decision making and submission of names for consideration by City of York Council and Persimmon Homes.

The bricks in the car park at Bootham Crescent have now been taken down and are in storage ready for installation at the memorial garden on the future housing development.
