Commemorative shirt to be worn for play-offs

By Dan Simmonite | 16th July 2020

We have been granted permission from the National League to wear our maroon commemorative kit for our play-off semi-final on the 25th July (3pm kick-off) at Bootham Crescent.

The maroon shirt features the famous white 'Y-Front' design of the mid-Seventies along with the club's original coat of arms and current club crest.

City legend Graeme Crawford, now 72, spoke when we unveiled the shirt for the first time last year: “Everyone used to like wearing this shirt and I think the design is now synonymous with York City Football Club.

"I went to watch the team playing at Leamington last season and there were City supporters still wearing the 'Y-Front' shirt.

"It was also a lucky shirt back in the Seventies and, hopefully, it will be as lucky again," he added. "The new version puts a modern take on an old design and I really like it."
