Blackburn Match Information

York City v Blackburn Rovers
18th July 2017

After an excellent start to pre-season so far, York City's next challenge in preparation for the new season is a home game tonight against League 1 side Blackburn Rovers.

The match at Bootham Crescent kicks off at 7.30pm.

City Manager Gary Mills will be pleased with the way his side performed in their last home outing, a creditable 2-2 draw against Scunthorpe United and will be looking to build on that display against a side relegated from the Championship last season.

It was a disappointing campaign for former Premier League winners Blackburn who were relegated exactly five years to the day after dropping out of the English top flight. Despite current supremo Tony Mowbray taking over in February, the former Middlesbrough boss couldn't prevent Rovers dropping into the third tier in 22nd place on goal difference from Gary Mills' former side Nottingham Forest.

Rovers will have high hopes of bouncing back though and have made a number of signings over the summer. These include  Peter Whittingham from Cardiff City, attacking midfielder Bradley Dack from Gillingham and Ben Gladwin from Queens Park Rangers.

Ticket prices for tonight's game, which apply to all public areas of the ground, as are follows:

Adults - £8.00
Over 65s - £4.00
Young Person 18-21 - £4.00
Under 18s - £4.00
Under 5s - FREE

A programme covering all three of our home pre-season friendlies will be available tonight priced at £1.50. This special edition of The Citizen is a fold out poster of the 2017/18 York City fixtures.

Blackburn Rovers' last competitive visit to Bootham Crescent was way back on Boxing Day 1975 when York ran out 2-1 winners in a Division 2 fixture. City scored that day through an Ian Holmes penalty and a goal from Bobby Hosker to send most of the 7,295 crowd home happy.

The referee for tonight's match is Mr Marc Edwards and he will be assisted by Mr David Avent and Mr George Roberts. The 4th Official is Mr Dane McCarrick.
