City pride on Falklands army base

23rd May 2019

Sgt Patrick Davison will be displaying his City colours with pride on the Falkland Islands this summer.

Patrick, who serves in the Corps of Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, contacted the club seeking a home shirt to display in 'The World Famous Crab and Sprocket' pub on the Mount Pleasant base.

According to City supporter Patrick, the venue - which is hugely popular with the soldiers - is being transformed into a sports bar this summer.

"The bar is a very important part of life out here due to the social aspects of everybody being able to get together after a highly stressful week," he said. "All welcoming and leaving speeches are conducted in here and a live band plays most weeks.

"It has been running since the Falkland Island War - which is why it is in desperate need of a re-vamp," he added.

The club is happy to oblige and sends best wishes to everyone at the 'Crab and Sprocket'
