Burgess joins City in loan move

24th January 2019

Midfielder Scott Burgess has today joined York City on loan until the end of the season from League Two side Bury.

Burgess, 21, has made 22 first team appearances for the Shakers and spent last season on loan at Macclesfield Town in the National League.

A product of the Bury youth system, he has previously played on loan for Stalybridge Celtic in National League North and spent a period on loan at Wrexham this season.

He also spent three months on loan at Norwegian club Bersoy in 2016.

Burgess is the second new arrival at the club in the space of 24 hours after manager Steve Watson signed former City midfielder Paddy McLaughlin on loan until the end of the season from Hartlepool United.

Warrington-born Burgess is available to make his debut in Saturday's game against Chorley at Bootham Crescent.
