Bartlett targets maximum returns

By Ian Appleyard | 12th February 2018

Goalkeeper Adam Bartlett says beating leaders Salford City has delivered a 'massive confidence boost' and is now targeting maximum points from the remaining 12 league games.

The Minstermen strengthened their push for promotion with an excellent 1-0 victory against Salford last weekend and are now preparing for Saturday's trip to Curzon Ashton.

"Beating the league leaders at home is a massive confidence boost for the whole team," said Bartlett. "Defensively, there was a real determination about us and we have got to take that forward now."

City - who have lost only one of their last nine games - are now fifth in Vanarama National League North - six points clear of eighth spot and 12 points adrift of Salford who occupy the automatic promotion spot.

"There are 12 league games left and we have got to go on a run again and start picking up as many points as possible because we want to be in the play-offs and we want to finish as high up in the league as we possibly can," said Bartlett.

"Salford maybe are that little bit too far away," he admitted. "But - with 12 games left - we have got to strive to win each and every one. Will that happen? Who knows? But that's got to be the aim."

On Saturday, City visit Curzon Ashton who moved out of the relegation zone last weekend thanks to a 3-3 draw at Boston United.

"If we let our guard down, and go to Curzon Ashton thinking we are going to pick up points just because we are York City, it's not going to happen," Bartlett warned. "We have got to be right on our game."
