Unbeaten City U19s visit Darlington

By Ian Appleyard | 20th November 2018

City's youngsters return to action in the National League Under-19 Alliance on Wednesday afternoon away at Darlington (kick-off 2pm).

Tim Ryan's side are currently second in the table and unbeaten after four games ahead of the trip to Blackwell Meadows.

Goals from Ethan Henderson, Harry Thompson, Kiari Ventura, and Dom Jackson secured a 4-0 victory at home against Farsley Celtic last Wednesday.

However, there was a setback for the side in the League Cup just 48 hours later when they were beaten 2-0 at home by Salford City.

Ryan praised the contribution of first year professional Harry Thompson who is still playing for City's Under-19s despite currently being on loan to Billingham Town.

"We want Harry to get a smile on his face and enjoy his football. He was brilliant against Farsley and I gave him the captaincy as a senior player," said Ryan.

"Basically, I wanted Harry and Josh Rogerson to push the team on and help the younger lads - which they did and that was really pleasing."

City's home fixture against league leaders Guiseley has been re-arranged for next Monday (kick-off 1pm) at Wigginton Road.
