Chorley 2 York City 0

TWO goals from Chorley's Josh Wilson condemned York City to back-to-back defeats for the first time in ten months.

Wilson scored twice before the interval and the Minstermen found it hard to get back into the contest.

Manager Gary Mills expressed his disappointment after the game and admitted that the team's performance would need to improve '100%' for Tuesday night's trip to Spennymoor Town.

He also revealed that Scottish winger Aidan Connolly has expressed a desire to leave the club which was the reason for his non-involvement.

Mills had made two changes to his side with Conor Smith and Michael Rankine replacing Connolly and Kaine Felix.

Midfielder Aaron Haswell, 17, was on the bench for the first time in the absence of Connolly and injured duo Adriano Moke and Louis Almond.

Chorley took the lead after 20 minutes when City defender Hamza Bencherif’s attempted back pass failed to reach Jon Worsnop allowing Nick Haughton to turn it into the path Wilson who slotted the ball into an empty net.

Striker Jon Parkin nearly equalised for City at a corner a few minutes later but his header was saved low by Chorley goalkeeper Matt Urwin.

Wilson doubled Chorley’s advantage with his second goal of the game eight minutes before the interval.

Collecting a Crossfield pass from Adam Blakemen, Wilson hit a low angled drive past Worsnop.

Defender Alex Whittle was replaced at halftime by Jassem Sukar and both Simon Heslop and Rankine were substituted midway through the second half.

City struggled to carve out goalscoring opportunities but Parkin forced goalkeeper Urwin into a flying save with a header six minutes from the end.

Goalkeeper Wornsop produced a finger-tip save to turn a 25 yard drive from Chorley's Josh O'Keefe over the bar.
