Ryan Shenton scored the only goal of the game as City fell to a 1-0 defeat at Curzon Ashton.

City dominated the first half and striker Jake Wright had a 'goal' ruled out for offside.

But City's standards dipped after the break and Curzon goalkeeper Cameron Mason was not tested again until stoppage time when he pulled off a brilliant save to deny substitute Joe Ironside.

City manager Sam Collins made one change for the game with Kallum Griffiths replacing the injured Simon Heslop in midfield.

Hamza Bencherif shot narrowly wide at an early corner and a Jordan Burrow effort was gathered at the second attempt by goalkeeper Mason.

Wright tapped in from close-range after 25 minutes when Mason parried Macaulay Langstaff's shot but the striker was ruled to be offside.

City goalkeeper Adam Bartlett was not called into action to make a save in the first half although Curzon fired a warning shot just before the break when Lewis Reilly failed to connect with a dangerous far post cross from Ryan Brooke.

Although City continued to have more of the ball in the second half, they conceded the only goal of the game on the hour mark.

Brooke's 25 yard drive bounced awkwardly in front of Bartlett and the City goalkeeper was unable to hold onto the ball which allowed Shenton to score from close-range.

City rarely threatened an equaliser and Curzon striker Reilly had a 'goal' ruled out for offside after City defenders blocked shots from Jonathan Hunt in a crowded area.

Substitute Ironside was unlucky not to level for City in the second minute of added time but Mason produced a brilliant reaction save to turn his shot from six yards around the foot of the post.
