CITY'S unbeaten run of five games was halted by Kidderminster Harriers this afternoon at Bootham Crescent.

Goals from Ed Williams (2) and Joe Ironside secured a 3-0 victory for the Harriers who are still unbeaten after nine games and now second in the table.

It was the first defeat under caretaker-manager Sam Collins who stepped into the breach one month ago.

Collins had made one change to his side with Fergus McAughtrie replacing striker Jon Parkin who was dropped to the bench.

Sean Newton was back among the substitutes after a five game injury absence but Russ Penn was unavailable due to suspension.

City fell behind after 12 minutes when Williams beat goalkeeper Adam Bartlett with an unstoppable drive from 25 yards.

Kidderminster survived two first half scares before doubling their advantage on the stroke of halftime.

Defender Joe Tait was ruled offside after turning a goalbound Simon Heslop shot wide from six yards and striker Wright was also ruled offside after turning a shot from Josh Law into the Kidderminster net.

There was an element of fortune about Kidderminster's second goal as Williams' shot took a cruel deflection off Tait's heel and took the ball past Bartlett.

City made two changes at the interval with Parkin and Newton replacing McAughtrie and Wright.

Parkin soon tested Kidderminster goalkeeper Brandon Hall with a 30 yard drive and Kallum Griffiths was then desperately unlucky not to score when his 25 yard shot bounced back off the post.

But when Ironside added a third for the visitors in the 55th minute it left City with a mountain to climb.

Picking up a pass from Declan Weeks, Ironside side-stepped Tait's challenge and curled a low shot inside Bartlett's left-hand post.

Bartlett produced a brilliant finger-tip save low to his right to deny Ironside a second goal in the 63rd minute.

City struggled to create further opportunities although Heslop forced a flying save from Hall in the dying minutes of the game.
