Sam Collins has told his players that tonight's trip to Northallerton also offers an opportunity to get back in the side for the FA Cup.

City, who visit former Premier League side Swindon Town on Saturday in the first round of the Emirates FA Cup, visit Northallerton Town tonight (kick-off 7.30pm) in the first round of the North Riding Senior Cup.

Collins confirmed that his side will be a mixture of youth and experience but stressed that there is still plenty at stake against the Northern League Division Two part-timers.

"We want this place to have a winning mentality," he said. "We were getting there but the week that we have just had has probably been a little bit of a shock to the system. We need to get that back and tonight can be the start of it again.

"We want to see the right attitude, the right determination, and I don't want to see the senior players who are involved tonight going there thinking 'it's just another game of football'. No. You are trying to get in the team on Saturday.

"This is what I will say to the players before the game. How much do you actually want to go and play on Saturday at Swindon in the first round of the FA Cup?"

As reported, midfielder Simon Heslop has been ruled out of action for the next two months following knee surgery.

Collins said: "The key thing is not to rush him and to get him back when he's right because we need him. He's a big loss to us and in some ways that has shown in the last two or three games.

"Apart from the Nuneaton game, where he had probably his quietest game so far, I can't think of another game where I have thought 'Hezzy's not at it today?' He has done really well for us."
