GOALS from Adriano Moke and Jordan Burrow secured a 2-1 victory over Brackley Town this afternoon and delivered an early Christmas present for City supporters.

Moke hit a stunning goal from 20 yards to give City the lead but captain Gareth Dean equalised for Brackley with a header at a corner.

Burrow scored City's winner from the penalty spot early in the second half after Dean handled a cross from Wes York.

The victory has moved City within five points of the promotion play-off zone ahead Boxing Day's trip to Darlington.

Defender Daniel Parslow made his first start of the season as manager Sam Collins made four changes to the side beaten by Harrogate Town in the FA Trophy.

Parslow and Joe Tait replaced Kennedy Digie and Joe Davis in the centre of defence while Moke replaced the injured Kallum Griffiths in midfield.

There was also a recall for loanee Joe Ironside in attack following the return of Lewis Hawkins to parent club Hartlepool United.

City made a bright start and took the lead in the 16th minute when midfielder Moke drilled home a thumping half volley from outside the Brackley area.

However, they were pegged back 10 minutes later when Dean rose unchallenged at a corner to head the ball into the top corner of the net.

Former City striker Daniel Nti headed home a Shane Byrne freekick soon after but the 'goal' was ruled out for offside.

Ironside headed over the crossbar at a corner and City were denied a penalty on the stroke of halftime when York appeared be bundled over in the box by Glenn Walker.

City regained the lead four minutes into the second half after Dean handled in the penalty area.

Referee Paul Brown pointed to the spot and Burrow duly tucked the ball past the outstretched left arm of goalkeeper Danny Lewis.

City were indebted to Adam Bartlett for preserving the lead as the City goalkeeper produced a brilliant reaction save in the 51st minute to deny Liam McAlinden.

The Brackley striker had beaten City's offside trap and latched onto a through ball from Ellis Myles but his shot was pushed away by Bartlett low to his right.

City might have added a third late on when substitutes Jake Wright and Macaulay Langstaff broke on the counter-attack but Brackley's defence held firm.
