Tom Peers first half goal was enough for Altrincham to win 1-0 again against York at Bootham Crescent, as City crashed out of the FA Trophy.

City were hoping to build on victory in midweek against Pickering Town. Altrincham were looking to continue their good form as well and make in ten games unbeaten in all competitions.

Skipper for the day Jordan Burrow had York’s first chance of the game. His shot was held easily by the keeper, after Alex Kempster had pulled the ball back to Burrow on the edge of the six yard box.

Hancock then had two speculative efforts from outside the area, both went wide of the mark as the away side started to grow into the game.

After 20 minutes, Altrincham scored the only goal of the game. A cross into the box fell onto the head of Jordan Hulme who had acres of space at the back post. His header was well kept out, however the rebound fell straight into Peers’ path who couldn’t miss, scoring for the second game running for Altrincham against York.

Macaulay Langstaff had an effort easily saved by Thompson, as City looked for a quick response. He then had another chance, beating his man on the left hand side of the box, but his shot was against saved by Thompson.

Chances were limited during the first half, as the away side went in at the break leading.

City started to second half positively. Kallum Griffiths drove at the defence and got a shot away, which went wide.

Altrincham then had chances of their own. First substitute John Johnston dragged a shot wide from the edge of the area. Peter Jameson then kept the lead to just one goal with a couple of good saves, keeping out Hulme. Griffiths then made a great last ditch tackle to prevent Johnston running clean through on goal.

Griffiths was involved again, this time crossing to Kempster from the right hand side. Kempster’s header was on target, but lacked the power needed to get past the keeper. York couldn’t find the equaliser that would take the game to extra time, meaning they crashed out of the FA Trophy.
