Goals from Paddy McLaughlin, Jordan Burrow and Macaulay Langstaff secured a 3-1 victory for City this afternoon against Yorkshire neighbours Bradford (Park Avenue)

Play-off chasing Bradford had taken the lead early in the second half courtesy of a Lewis Knight freekick but City fought back for a well-deserved three points.

Manager Steve Watson made three changes to the side beaten 3-2 by Spennymoor Town on Good Friday with Alex Kempster, Joe Tait, and Wes York replacing Josh Law, Jasper Moon, and Adriano Moke.

Goalscoring opportunities proved thin on the ground in the first 45 minutes although Kempster tested Bradford goalkeeper Charlie Andrews after only 18 seconds of the game.

As the half wore on, Kempster and Kallum Griffiths both shot straight at the goalkeeper from distance and Langstaff curled wide from 25 yards.

A cross from Langstaff flew across the Bradford goalmouth and a Paddy McLaughlin header was blocked in the area by a defender.

Bradford's only real chance of note fell to former City striker Oli Johnson just before the interval but he shot straight at Ryan Whitley from a Lewis Knight corner.

City came under increased pressure at the start of the second half and Bradford midfielder Adam Nowakowski ballooned the ball over the crossbar when Whitley dropped the ball at a corner.

Conor Branson struck the City crossbar with a blistering 30 yard drive before a foul by Wes York gave Knight the opportunity to break the deadlock with a stunning freekick from 25 yards.

City shrugged off the setback and produced some of their best football in recent weeks - eventually getting back on level terms when McLaughlin shot past Andrew in the 67th minute

Both Langstaff and Burrow saw close range efforts pushed around the post by Andrew but City's play was eventually rewarded again in the 80th minute when Burrow made it 3-1 with a firm drive into the roof of the net after chesting down a ball from substitute Alex Harris.

Bradford were reduced to 10 men three minutes later when captain Shane Killock was sent off for a professional foul on Burrow who was clean through on goal.

It took a good low save from Whitley to deny Mark Ross in the closing stages but Langstaff put the seal on a well deserved win in stoppage time when latching onto a pass from Burrow and sprinting 35 yards before beating Andrew.
