Steve Watson
Manager

Steve Watson was appointed manager on January 10, 2019 after leaving his role as manager of National League club Gateshead.
Watson, 44, moved into coaching nine years ago after an illustrious playing career with Newcastle United, Aston Villa, Everton, West Bromwich Albion, and Sheffield Wednesday.
He was previously employed as a coach by Huddersfield Town and Birmingham City and assistant-manager at Macclesfield Town and moved into management at Gateshead in October 2017.
Watson ensured Gateshead survived in the National League last season and reached the semifinals of the FA Trophy. This season, he had steered the north-east club to eighth position in the table prior to his departure.

Micky Cummins
Assistant-manager

Micky Cummins worked alongside Steve Watson at Gateshead and followed the City manager to Bootham Crescent in January 2019.

A former Republic of Ireland Under-21 international midfielder, Cummins made over 400 appearances in the Football League for Grimsby Town, Rotherham United, Darlington, Port Vale, and Middlesbrough.

He finished his playing career at Gateshead and was appointed joint reserve and youth team coach in summer 2014.

He was promoted to assistant-manager at Gateshead following Watson's arrival as manager three years later.

Ian Gallagher

Ian Gallagher
First team physiotherapist

Ian Gallagher joined York City as lead physiotherapist in September 2018 after over 25 years service to his hometown club Hartlepool United.

A tough-tackling midfield player in his youth, Gallagher switched his attentions to physiotherapy after his playing career was ended prematurely by a serious knee injury at the aged of 17. He had broken into the Pools' first team and made two appearances for the club.

After qualifying as a chartered physiotherapist, Gallagher was appointed head physiotherapist at Hartlepool in 2012.

He also formed part of a four-man management team that took charge of Hartlepool for the final two League Two games of the 2016-17 season.
