Sam Collins

Manager

York City Football Club confirmed the appointment of Sam Collins as first team manager on October 10, 2018.

Collins, who joined the club as youth team manager three months earlier, had been in temporary charge for eight games.

He was previously employed as professional development coach by Bradford City and worked as assistant manager and coach at Hartlepool United.

Collins, 41, played nearly 600 senior games during a professional career that spanned nearly two decades.

A tough tackling centreback, he had played for Huddersfield Town, Bury, Port Vale, Swindon Town (on loan), Hull City, and Hartlepool - where he also stood in as caretaker-manager on three occasions.

Stuart Parnaby
Assistant-manager

Former England Under-21 international defender Stuart Parnaby joined York City as strength and conditioning coach in July 2018 and was promoted to assistant-manager in October 2018.

Parnaby, 36, hung up his boots due to injury in September 2015 after spending the majority of his career in the Premier League with Middlesbrough and Birmingham City.

A member of the Boro side that reached the 2006 UEFA Cup final, Parnaby ended his playing days at Hartlepool United.

He was released by Pools in summer 2015 but returned seven months later as the club's conditioning coach.

Ian Gallagher

First team physiotherapist

Ian Gallagher joined York City as lead physiotherapist in September 2018 after over 25 years service to his hometown club Hartlepool United.

A tough-tackling midfield player in his youth, Gallagher switched his attentions to physiotherapy after his playing career was ended prematurely by a serious knee injury at the aged of 17. He had broken into the Pools' first team and made two appearances for the club.

After qualifying as a chartered physiotherapist, Gallagher was appointed head physiotherapist at Hartlepool in 2012.

He also formed part of a four-man management team that took charge of Hartlepool for the final two League Two games of the 2016-17 season.

Mark Bell
Goalkeeping Coach

Mark Bell joined York City as goalkeeping coach during the 2017-18 season.

Born October 9, 1982, Bell started his career at Blyth Spartans before moving to West Auckland Town in 2010.

He played at Wembley for West Auckland in the 2012 FA Vase final before joining Darlington in November 2012.

He moved to Bishop Auckland in summer 2015 prior to a brief spell with Spennymoor Town.

Bell returned to Darlington as goalkeeping coach in the summer of 2016 and followed manager Martin Gray to Bootham Crescent last season.
