VIDEO: Aidan Connolly on brink of first team return

By Ian Appleyard | 10th August 2017

York City winger Aidan Connolly is back training with the first team today - three months after calf surgery.

The former Dundee United and Raith Rovers player, 21, has not played since scoring for City at Wembley in the FA Trophy final win over Macclesfield Town in May.

Watch our special video interview (below) with Aidan and first team physio Mat Johnson to find out more.

"It's been a long time and it's not nice getting injured," says Aidan. "It's the worst part of being a footballer. But I am ready to get back now. I feel good and hopefully I can help the team."

Physio Johnson, meanwhile, commented: "At this stage now, there are no issues whatsoever. It's just a case of building his fitness up so he's back where the other lads are after missing a full pre-season."
