Scunthorpe Match Information

York City v Scunthorpe United
By Phil Howden | 12th July 2017

York City begin our home pre-season fixtures tonight with what should be an interesting workout against League 1 outfit Scunthorpe United.

Please note that the match starts at the slightly earlier time of 7pm.

Visitors Scunthorpe United, now managed by former Fleetwood Town manager Graham Alexander, narrowly missed out on promotion to the Championship last season when they were beaten 3-2 on aggregate in the play-off semi-finals by eventual promotion winners Millwall. Scunthorpe had finished third in the table with 82 points and spent the whole season in the top six of the division.

The Iron will be hoping to go one better this year and have made some interesting additions to their squad over the summer. These include veteran goalkeeper Matt Gilks, Australian international Cameron Burgess and former Bradford City defender Rory McArdle.

For the Minstermen, manager Gary Mills has identified this fixture as one where intends to put out a more settled side after picking two completely different line-ups in each half at Farsley on Saturday. Goals from Daniel Parslow, Jon Parkin (2) and Kaine Felix gave City a comfortable 4-1 away win.

Ticket prices for tonight's game, which apply to all public areas of the ground, as are follows:

Adults - £8.00
Over 65s - £4.00
Young Person 18-21 - £4.00
Under 18s - £4.00
Under 5s - FREE

A programme covering all three of our home pre-season friendlies will be available tonight priced at £1.50. This special edition of The Citizen is a fold out poster of the 2017/18 York City fixtures.

Scunthorpe United's last competitive visit to Bootham Crescent will bring back fond memories for supporters when the Minstermen ran out 4-1 winners in a spectacular game in League 2. Goals from Wes Fletcher, Josh Carson and Ryan Brobbel (2) gave York the points on 29th October 2013, striker Sam Winnall scoring the Iron's consolation goal.

Tonight's referee is Mr Matthew Diccico, and he will be assisted by Mr Alf Greenwood and Mr David Holbrook. The 4th Official is Mr Chris Keighley.
