Youth Team to welcome Chesterfield to Wigginton Road...
YORK City's Under-18s will face Chesterfield's Under-18s at Wigginton Road on Saturday morning, with Steve Torpey and his team gunning for a third consecutive victory in the Youth Alliance League Northeast Division.
City sit fifth in the standings with eight matches left to play, and are within seven points of league leaders Mansfield Town, who the Young Minstermen are due to play at the start of March.
Aaron Haswell scored his third goal in as many games last time out, netting the only goal as City beat Lincoln City 1-0 at Wigginton Road six days ago in a match where the hosts managed to gain all three points on a tricky playing surface that had taken plenty of rain prior to the match.
As for the visitors, they are also aiming for a third straight win having beaten Doncaster Rovers 2-1 last weekend, and thrashing bottom club Lincoln City 9-0 the week before. A win for the Spireites would put them one point behind City in the Youth Alliance League table.
The Young Minstermen are looking to complete a league double over Chesterfield having won the reverse fixture at the start of November, courtesy of goals from Tyler Walton and Ryan Edmondson giving City a 2-0 victory on the day.
All spectators are welcome to attend at Wigginton Road, with kick-off at 11.00am on Saturday morning.
