Futsal side go up to top tier...
York City Futsal is delighted to announce that the club has been promoted to the FA National Super League for the 2017/18 season, the highest level of futsal in the country.
The Minstermen have been in imperious form this season, storming to the Division 2 League title undefeated.
However, the Champions have had to wait for a decision from the FA as the futsal league structure moved from two regional divisions to a single National Super League. City have now received confirmation of their place at futsal’s top table where they will face the best teams in the country.
Paula Stainton, York City FC Foundation Manager and club chairwoman said: "We are over the moon that the hard work and dedication of Junior, the team of staff and the players has been rewarded. Automatic promotion wasn't guaranteed due to the restructure of the leagues, but we have a great setup starting from the Junior Futsal academy through to the men's team which we were able to present to the league, and now we're looking forward to progressing that further next season."
City Futsal Head Coach, Junior Roberti, was delighted: "I’m so happy! There has been so much work going into this from everyone at the club, the sponsors, players, volunteers and the fans.
"It's brilliant that the City will see the highest level of futsal in the country! This season has been a dream, I can't wait to start working towards next season after the FA Cup!"
York City Futsal face Manchester Futsal away from home in the FA Futsal Cup on the 23rd April as the team hope to continue their impressive run of form.
